// Edition 016. Long Beach Days
Morning-to-night in Long Beach, a portrait made in Remsen and endnotes.
Long Beach Days
As we end Daylight Savings Time (here in the UK) the leaves are falling and the nights are drawing in, here are a few pictures from Long Beach, NY, to remind us of summer. Early mornings down on the beach, riding the town during the day, lazy evenings by the channel and pizza on the way homeā¦
What are your memories of summer? Has anyone photographed summer in a way you identify with or that brings familiar memories to you? Share them with us, if youād like to, and drop a link in the comments.

// Notes from The Singing Hills
Iām still in the process of going through the photographs from my trip upstate this summer to make more photographs for this project. Every now and then Iāll come across a photograph not made or intended for the project but that stops me in my tracks anyway.
This is Frank Tolbert, a gracious, soft-spoken and kind man. Heās the husband of one of the people I have photographed for the project, Shirley Tolbert (nĆ©e Jones). While staying with them he would tell me stories of their family, his time at Cornell, the land and farming, not to mention the trials and tribulations of parking at Woodstock!
Thank you for your hospitality, Frank, Shirley and your family.
I also have a couple of other sets of photographs I hope to share with you in the future from my time with slate carver and artist Kerry Furlani and the slate quarries around Poultney she brought me to where she gets her slate.

Class in photography. How we see it, who gets to make images, and what gets talked about. Much discussion is still needed around this. What are your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comments below, or email if you prefer.
Speaking of which, Iām looking forward to being at the artist and curators tour for Jo Coates work at Jerwood on 2 November. Iām making a special trip into London and hope to take in the Chris Killip retrospective at the Photographers Gallery also.
If you have any other suggestions of things to see or do, or anyone is around that day to meet up, let me know via comment, DM or email.
